Benchmarking as a campus in ESPM

If you manage two or more co-located buildings that share energy meters, or that act as a single property, you may consider benchmarking your property as a campus. Please Submit a Ticket to the Madison BESP Help Desk if you believe that this applies to your buildings.


Once the Madison BESP Help Desk team confirms that it's appropriate to benchmark your buildings as a campus: 

  • Guidance will be provided on setting up your properties as a campus in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager

  • New Madison Building IDs will be assigned to your buildings

    • The newly-created Campus will be assigned a MBID ending with "C" while the Child Properties' new MBIDs will end with "B1", "B2", etc.

  • Campuses benchmark energy usage for the group of buildings, while Child Properties skip the benchmarking step but are required to tune-up (if larger than 50,000 sq. ft.)
