In order to set up your property in the Building Owner Portal, you must first have completed the steps in Part 1 of this guide (Collect your property data with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager (ESPM)

STEP 1 - After logging in to the Building Owner Portal (https://bop.opentech.eco), click on ‘Property List’ in the top navigation bar, select one of your claimed properties on the left sidebar, and click on the ‘Get Started’ button.

STEP 2 - Confirm that you have added your property’s Madison Building ID (assigned to you on the Covered Buildings List) to your ESPM property in the ‘Standard ID- City/ Town’ field.

In case you haven’t yet added your Madison Building ID to your ESPM Property, you can copy it here and add it to your ESPM Property. For detailed instructions, review the article "How do I add the Madison Building ID (MBID) to my property in ESPM?".

STEP 3 - Before continuing, make sure that your property meets the following conditions:

☑ Your property in ESPM contains the Madison Building ID (ESPM Standard ID).

(For help, review the article "Add & Set up your property - Step 4")

☑ Your property has been shared on ESPM with the City of Madison.

(For help, review the article "Share your properties with the City of Madison")

☑ You have run the Data Quality Checker on ESPM and corrected energy use errors

(For help, review the article "Use the Data Quality Checker")

Click on ‘Complete Setup’ to finalize your property setup.

WARNING: If actions in Step 3 have not been completed in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager (ESPM) prior to submitting your data in the Building Owner Portal (BOP), your property will be flagged with a Set Up Error, and you will need to re-submit your property.

STEP 4 - Click ‘Submit Data’ to submit your properties to the Madison BESP. Your submission will be reviewed by the team and the status of your property updated within 3-5 business days.
