The Gross Floor Area (GFA) of your property may need to be updated in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager for various reasons including: building renovations, an initial miscalculation, or a value differing from the GFA in the BESP's Covered Buildings List.
The Gross Floor Area must be updated in two locations to avoid triggering an error alert in ESPM – both locations are found on the 'Details' tab of your property:
Location 1 - The "Property GFA - Self-Reported" on the Details tab
Enter the new Gross Floor Area value then click 'Update Property'
Location 2 - Action drop-down menu under ‘Property Uses and Use Details’
Click 'Edit Use Details'
Click into the 'Value' field and type in the new Gross Floor Area value
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Save'
